Benefits of beef heart for dogs
Heart is made up of cardiac muscle. It is rich in protein and a great source of B-complex vitamins and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). CoQ10 helps the cells function and is excellent for your dog’s heart rhythm. Beef heart also contains selenium, phosphorus, zinc and essential amino acids. These all help build muscle and give your dog energy, stamina and endurance. If that’s not enough to convince you to feed beef heart to your dog, it also has high amounts of collagen and elastin which help your dog maintain healthy joints.
Ingredients
1 lb. beef heart
¼ c. goat yogurt
1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
1 small chopped clove garlic
1 tsp coconut oil
Directions
Trim any sinew and fat off the meat and cut the heart into cubes and lightly sauté in coconut oil. Allow to cool and place in a small food processor along with goat yogurt, parsley and garlic. Grind until ingredients are smooth. Place mixture into a heart-shaped silicone tray. Cover and place in the freezer for several hours. Remove from the freezer and pop out the heart treats. Place frozen heart treats into a freezer bag and bring them out and defrost as desired.
